Quality Engineer (Java)

Alexandria, Virginia, United States | US - DC | Full-time

mgm technology partners is looking for a quality engineer to reliably break and then help fix their code as a part of its growing team in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside of Washington, D.C.

About you

You recognize that today’s world of development is critically complicated, highly manual, and horribly risk prone—and to that you say, “Challenge accepted.” You feel passionate about improving technology, and you believe that great customer experiences start with quality products. You look for environments where you can get energy from highly skilled and engaged developers. You enjoy asking “why,” and have been rewarded for doing so. You work to help solve issues after you’ve found them. You seek out spaces with “coding culture.”

Your impact as a quality engineer

mgm technology partners is new to D.C.—and America! Our Germany-based software development company just opened its office in Alexandria, Virginia, and we’re growing a local team to better serve our U.S.-based clients.
The quality engineer will join mgm’s international team of testers while working alongside local developers. They will contribute to our ruthless approach to manual testing and be responsible for reporting anomalies and defects, and ensure that their tickets get resolved. The quality engineer uses long-term strategic thinking when creating test scripts, facilitating requirements documentation, and managing project material while serving as a mentor to quality engineers with less experience.

  • Thoroughly analyze product requirements, use cases, and technical design to construct detailed test cases in Atlassian Jira focused on functional and regression requirements for Java-based web systems.
  • Spearhead performance and load testing approaches to long-term, scalable application projects.
  • Perform root-cause analysis, along with constructing staging scenarios for verification and building automated testing procedures, for complex technical systems.
  • Design test reporting, cases, scenarios, and metrics appropriate to project need; execute manual tests to enforce quality standards and identify retest requirements.
  • Effectuate high-quality test data preparation (either for data imports or manual data entering).
  • Thoroughly document and track all issues using Atlassian Jira and TestRail.
  • Collaborate with developers and analysts for issue resolution.
  • Work with the international quality engineering team to train newer quality engineers.
